Penance is a word used in dogmatic settings. But it is a strong word. You do penance, you lay down your mistakes, you give up your sins, you ask for forgiveness. Mostly you think of big mistakes, a serious misstep.

But the further you grow into your soul, the more a small mistake will give rise to penance. The exercise or the question will be different for everyone. The most well-known way is a pilgrimage.

By emptying your head while walking, pure thoughts come that let your mistakes pass by like a slow train. With every mistake or every carriage, you ask for forgiveness. It doesn’t matter who you ask, as long as you ask. And then you wait for the next carriage: I ask for forgiveness
