Smart is the pain we feel, smart is also smart in English. Feeling and feeling pain, finding out the deeper origin, asking questions, wanting to know what is hidden behind the first pain.

That layer under the layer also gives you more explanation about your path. Your incarnation comes with a list of experience points, experiences that your soul wants to experience.
Smart is always there, just like love is one. The intensity of smart can vary and that also determines how quickly your soul wants to evolve.
So there is a directly proportional paralyzed between deep smart and the soul content. But as a human being it always hurts.
