Lord and Master will evoke a feeling of being submissive in many. Yet you know that someone who knows more is a master. He or she can teach you something, pass on wisdom so that you can grow and improve yourself. Submissiveness then becomes respect.
The same can happen with the Higher Powers. If you have had a spiritual experience, then you already know that your Master does not ask for submissiveness, but that you can be guided and trained. Then the steps follow as a child evolves from kindergarten to university.
Know that it takes time and know that you can also encourage others to go to kindergarten. You yourself will not be a Master, leave that to us. You can be an ambassador.
