The lighthouse is the beacon, and I am the beacon, said Jesus. Faith is something special. Many take the word as if you should believe without question what someone else says or dictates. But faith in Jesus is of a different order; it is a presence in your heart that transforms faith into knowledge.
Hence the reference to the lighthouse. Older versions actually had fire in the tower. And fire represents the warmth in your heart, your heart in love with Jesus. But also guidance, a point to focus on when sailing the turbulent sea. Jesus, or Christ, or use your word, is the beacon that guides us home. Your time on earth is turbulent, but the beacon awaits you.

De vuurtoren is het baken en het baken ben ik, zei Jezus. Geloof is iets bijzonders. Velen nemen het woord alsof je zonder bevraging zou moeten geloven wat iemand anders je zegt of oplegt. Maar geloof in Jezus is van een andere orde, het is een aanwezigheid in je hart waardoor geloof veranderd in weten.
Vandaar de verwijzing naar de vuurtoren. De oudere versies hadden echt vuur in de toren. En vuur staat voor de warmte in jouw hart, je verliefd hart voor Jezus. Maar ook voor leiding, een punt om je op te richten als je op de woeilige zee aan het varen bent. Jezus, of christus of gebruik jouw woord is het baken dat ons begeleidt naar huis. Het verblijf op aarde is woelig maar het baken wacht op jou.
